Clock Tower Through Royal Palms

Clock Tower Through Royal Palms

My first journey up north
Ipoh bound from the south
Lime stone hills Thong Wah cave
Dulang washers bravely wave

Keep Ipoh clean says the sign
Never ever cross the line
In the sixties cleanest town
People now might frown

Station hotel my destination
Overnight stay in anticipation
Coffee shops eating stalls
Drawing crowds as night falls

Pomelo star fruit way side stalls
Vendors with their welcoming calls
Early warning from someone
Beware of Ipoh`s food and fun

Shops with high ceiling fans
Posters of Anchor and Tiger cans
FMS Hotel always friendly cozy
Ah Tun`s charm makes it busy

Black and white amahs' chatting
At the clog maker crowding
Their masters need`s to fulfill
Food chosen to bake and grill

Cinema choices so many
Rex Majestic Odeon choose any
Jubilee Coronation park for some
Ipoh`s bright lights so welcome

Holden Beetle Hillman Austin Morris
Flashy Carman Giah Martin Ogles Alvis
Uncrowded streets leisurely parking
Bullock carts bicycles allow safe walking

First job at Anderson school
Jittery unable to keep cool
The principal`s hearty welcome
Martin Ogle helped me overcome

Botany Zoology teaching subjects
Sixth form busy with projects
In sports and studies excelling
Scholarships and careers following

Sports day eventful as in a carnival
Music and cheer makes one marvel
Students and teachers now as one
A day for all to have as much fun

Whitfield house to me given
In sports and games to be driven
From underdog to number one
Pointing to my head was a gun

On the field first in the evening
From 6 Cator Ave as a begining
With effort and sweat gaining
Basking in powers now shinig

Whitfield house in this way
As number one made its day
A champion~s new confidence
empowered with abundance

From student to me flow
Confidence making me bow
My student now my teacher
We all this way get wiser

A lesson for all to acknowledge
Self confidence more than knowledge
This the door sought that leeds
Too paths fulfilling our needs

Ung Khek Chow a mathematician
In class and rugby a disciplinarian
With an iron fist and sharp mind
Such a valued mentor hard to find

Selvamany N S speaker economist
At badminton a winning strategist
Lady Precious stream in his able direction
A great play remembered with appreciation

M B Menon Tsang Ah Liat Sham Singh
Teachers who took me under their wing
Etherton Toft Alan baker Desmond Tate
Karan Karian Hira Kalbanth valued mates

Royal Palms and clock tower
Now lat has made famous for ever
Fond memories I have of yesteryear
My students to me so very dear

The Grand Old Lady

The Grand Old Lady

Timeless lesson from someone
Not that easy to be won
Mornings sharp at eight
Madam descends never late

Snug and warm in her place
Breathing with blissful grace
Impatient if ever late
Must not miss this date

Eyes wide ears sharp
Strung as a golden harp
My pleasure each morning
Meeting this mutual longing

Head neck and body
Caressing a lovely lady
Sheer rapture for all to see
Mutual bonding creators key

Rolling over for easy access
Longings hard to success
Hushed purring in response
Glowing in sublime repose

Outpouring in timeless wisdom
Glimpses seen so seldom
Missy ones dearest friend
An emptiness hard to mend

The lady she is not a tramp
A soul like a million lamps
Beauty in all creation
Between us no separation

God bless this feline
Missy giving her lifeline
Rest in peace knowing
Humility and love sharing

Awakened to a voiceless wisdom
A queen within her kingdom
Thank you with us for sharing
Love and wisdom  each morning

The Treadmill

The Treadmill

Today's young caught up in work
Long hours in tiredness they lurk
Stress strain building in its wake
Always in this burnt up stage

As the years one by one go by
Life`s promises become a sigh
Like the proverbial pie in the sky
Goals always way too high

Life always spent on other`s goals
Without enriching ones own soul
In bondage as an indentured slave
For others all his life he gave

The mirror on the wall tells it all
Sliding to such a painful fall
Crow`s feet and streaks of grey
How sad to be going this way

Doctors and drugs now life's props
Can all this come to a stop stop
Lost for ever life`s vibrant zest
Can one ever pass this test

Have hope there is another side
Simple steps for anyone as a guide
Ups and downs in a bumpy ride
Fight not just flow with the tide

Step back watch yourself
Always busy by one self
Hey! are there two in this play
One self seeing ones mind at sway

Be as active as you really want
But remain still and calm as a plant
In peace and bliss always basking
Everything then comes without asking

The busy person in this way
Blissfully spends his day
Every moment of the day in full repose
Always wonderfully in full compose

This moment is all that matters
Savor as much of all it offers
The future will become this moment
The past will no longer torment
