A Ladies Land

By the rail track a quaint village

People here easy to engage

To the township and rail station

Ladies names have been given

After a leafy- haired lady the township named

Rail station by young ladies claimed

To one –side the ancient Siva temple

Goddess Devi for unity a good example

Surrounded by yellowing paddy

End of spring for harvesting ready

Women bent with scythes cutting

Paddy stems in heaps stacking

A feast for birds so many

Scrambling for grain antics so funny

Grain threshed and dried

Covered and stored by the side

Looking at the village people

The young and the old for example

About most working adults

Earning abroad with good results

Homes to their return look forward

Short leave just a brief reward

In this way families have flourished

Life`s good things now being relished

Choices now for all to see

New skills never could foresee

The young now need not abroad venture

At home now beckon greener pastures

The country seeing an explosion

Of IT skills now in fashion

The ladies neck to neck in this field

Flourishing careers for them sealed  

A revival of arts and culture

For people with money and leisure

All of life`s finer things

This new affluence brings

A land with a rich past

Lost its glory pretty fast

Now a very good chance

For a new glory to advance

From a slumber now awakening                                                  

Opportunities well taking

21^st Century in a new making

To a bright future all staking

Values the country’s bedrock

Now for wealth to unlock

Both by fine balance fed

By strong leaders must be led
