The Waterway

A stretch of water
Across Cochin Harbour
A busy waterway
Craft all sorts plying their way.

Where are they all bound?
Gliding along without a sound
Commuting and for trade
A living this way made.

In the shore bound breeze
Crows, kites and eagles
Floating, gliding, diving
My fantasy gets flying.

In this setting
Everything well fitting
One can sit and stare
In natures glory share.

This waterway made deep
From silting to keep
Cochin Port active always
A harbour for ships from far away.

The Taj Hotel with this view
High praises due
The buildings built by the British
With a colonial finish.

Across the waterway to the East
Humble cottages one sees
A view of orderliness
Homeliness and cleanliness.

People from all over
This place to savour
The Taj`s warm calling
Merging with simple living
What an experience, what a treat
For a wonderful retreat.
